Terms of Service for Lazy Sudoku

Thank you for choosing Lazy Sudoku. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lazy Sudoku mobile application ("App") and related services. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

If you don't agree with these Terms, please don't use the App.

Platform End User Licence Agreements

In addition to these Terms of Service, your use of Lazy Sudoku is subject to the end user licence agreement of the platform from which you downloaded the app:

• Apple App Store (iOS): Apple's Standard EULA
• Google Play Store (Android): Google Play Terms of Service

These platform agreements govern aspects of app distribution, licensing, and your relationship with Apple or Google respectively.

1. The Service

1.1 What We Provide

Lazy Sudoku is a premium sudoku application that provides:

• A sophisticated sudoku solving environment with advanced analytical tools
• Automatic pencil marks and pattern highlighting
• Visual chain analysis and solving technique demonstrations
• A library of 30+ advanced solving techniques with interactive examples
• Optional premium features via subscription

1.2 What We Don't Provide

Lazy Sudoku is a tool for sudoku enthusiasts. It is not:

• A game with progression systems, achievements, or competitive features
• A tutorial for absolute beginners (it assumes basic sudoku knowledge)
• A puzzle generator (we provide puzzles, but the focus is on solving tools)

2. Account and Access

2.1 No Account Required

You don't need to create an account to use the basic features of Lazy Sudoku. The App works entirely on your device.

2.2 Device Requirements

The App requires:

• iOS 13.0 or later (for iOS devices)
• iPadOS 13.0 or later (for iPad)
• Android 8.0 or later (for Android devices - when available)

2.3 For All Ages

Lazy Sudoku is suitable for users of all ages. The app contains educational puzzle content with no inappropriate material.

For in-app purchases, payment is handled by the App Store or Google Play Store, which have their own parental control and permission systems. We don't process payments directly.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

3.1 Subscription Tiers

We offer the following subscription tiers:

Pro Subscription

• Access to all advanced solving techniques
• Visual chain analysis and pattern highlighting
• Interactive technique demonstrations and help system
• Ad-free experience (we never show ads, even without subscription)

OCR Subscription (planned)

• Puzzle scanning from physical sources
• On-device optical character recognition
• Quick puzzle import from photos

Premium Subscription

• All Pro features
• All OCR features
• Priority access to new features

3.2 Free Trial

We may offer free trials for new subscribers. The specific trial period will be displayed before you subscribe. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, you'll be charged for the subscription.

3.3 Pricing and Payment

• Prices are displayed in your local currency at the time of purchase
• Payment is processed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
• We never see your payment details - Apple and Google handle all transactions
• Prices may vary by country and are subject to change with notice

3.4 Auto-Renewal

Important: Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date.

• Your subscription will renew for the same period (monthly or annual)
• You'll be charged within 24 hours before the current period ends
• Your account will be charged at the rate confirmed at the time of purchase
• If the price increases, we'll notify you before charging the new rate

3.5 Managing Your Subscription

To cancel or manage your subscription:

iOS:

1. Open the Settings app
2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions
3. Select Lazy Sudoku
4. Tap Cancel Subscription

Android:

1. Open the Google Play Store
2. Tap Menu → Subscriptions
3. Select Lazy Sudoku
4. Tap Cancel Subscription

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You'll retain access to premium features until then.

3.6 Refunds

All purchases are processed through Apple or Google. Refund eligibility is determined by their refund policies:

• iOS: Request refunds through reportaproblem.apple.com
• Android: Request refunds through play.google.com/store/account

We don't have the ability to issue refunds directly. However, if you have an issue with your subscription, contact us at support@lazy-sudoku.online and we'll do our best to help.

3.8 Family Sharing

All subscriptions and non-consumable purchases (including lifetime purchases) support Family Sharing on iOS. This means:

• Up to six family members can access premium features with one subscription
• Family members must be in your Apple Family Sharing group
• Family Sharing is configured through your device settings, not in the app
• On Android, we'll support Google Play Family Library if available

To enable Family Sharing:

iOS:

1. Ensure Family Sharing is set up in Settings → [Your Name] → Family Sharing
2. Subscribe to Lazy Sudoku
3. Family members will automatically have access

3.9 Free Features

• Basic sudoku solving interface
• Manual pencil marks
• Undo/redo functionality
• Puzzle import from text
• Dark mode and accessibility features

We will never put existing free features behind a paywall.

4. Licence and Restrictions

4.1 Limited Licence

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

4.2 What You Can't Do

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Remove any copyright or proprietary notices
• Use the App for any commercial purpose
• Share your subscription access with others
• Use automated systems or bots to interact with the App
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or our systems
• Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

4.3 Puzzle Content

Puzzles provided in the App are for your personal use only. You may not:

• Republish our puzzles in other apps, websites, or publications
• Sell or distribute puzzles obtained through the App
• Claim authorship of puzzles you didn't create

Custom puzzles you create using the App remain your property.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Ownership

The App, including all content, features, functionality, and design, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

Our logo and visual design elements are proprietary. You may not use them without our permission.

5.2 Your Content

When you create custom puzzles or notes in the App:

• You retain all rights to your content
• You grant us no rights to your custom puzzles
• Your content is stored locally on your device (or in your cloud storage if you enable sync)
• We don't access, analyse, or use your custom puzzles

5.3 Feedback

If you provide us with suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the App:

• We may use it to improve the App without obligation to you
• You grant us a perpetual, worldwide licence to use your feedback
• You won't be entitled to compensation for feedback we implement

We appreciate your input, but submitting feedback doesn't create any confidential relationship or obligation.

6. Privacy and Data

6.1 Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the App, you agree to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy, available at: https://lazy-sudoku.online/docs/privacy

6.2 Data Portability

You can export your puzzle data at any time using the export function in app settings. Your data is yours.

7. Updates and Changes

7.1 App Updates

We may release updates to:

• Fix bugs and improve performance
• Add new features
• Maintain compatibility with new OS versions
• Enhance security

Updates may be required to continue using the App. Some updates may change or remove features.

7.2 Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes:

• We'll notify you through the App or via the email associated with your App Store/Play Store account
• The "Last Updated" date at the top will change
• Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance

If you don't agree with changes, you should stop using the App and cancel your subscription.

7.3 Changes to Subscriptions

We may:

• Modify pricing with 30 days' notice before your next renewal
• Add or remove subscription tiers
• Change features included in subscription tiers

Existing subscribers will be notified of changes before they take effect. Price increases won't apply to your current subscription period.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

We don't warrant that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• The App will be compatible with all devices
• Puzzles will have unique solutions (though we strive for quality)
• The App will meet your specific requirements
• Data stored locally will never be lost (back up your data!)

Use the App at your own risk. This doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

9.1 No Liability for Indirect Damages

We're not liable for:

• Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
• Loss of data (keep backups!)
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Damages arising from your inability to use the App

9.2 Limited Direct Liability

Our total liability to you for any claims related to the App won't exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or £10 if you haven't paid us anything).

9.3 Exceptions

These limitations don't apply to:

• Personal injury or death caused by our negligence
• Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
• Any liability that can't be excluded under applicable law

10. Termination

10.1 By You

You can stop using the App at any time by:

• Deleting it from your device
• Cancelling your subscription (if any)

10.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

• You violate these Terms
• You abuse the service or attempt to exploit vulnerabilities
• We're required to do so by law
• We cease operating the App (with reasonable notice)

10.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your licence to use the App ends immediately
• You must stop using the App and may delete it
• Subscription fees already paid are non-refundable (unless required by law)
• Provisions that should survive termination (like intellectual property and liability limitations) continue to apply

11. Dispute Resolution

11.1 Informal Resolution

If you have a dispute, please contact us first at support@lazy-sudoku.online. We'll try to resolve it informally.

11.2 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Serbia, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

11.3 Jurisdiction

For disputes that can't be resolved informally:

• If you're in the EU, you may bring claims in your country of residence
• Otherwise, disputes will be resolved in the courts of Serbia

11.4 Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. If you're in the EU or UK, you have specific consumer rights that can't be waived by these Terms.

12. Apple App Store Terms

If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, these additional terms apply:

12.1 Acknowledgements

• These Terms are between you and us, not Apple
• Apple isn't responsible for the App or its content
• Apple has no warranty obligations for the App
• Apple isn't responsible for maintenance or support

12.2 Scope of Licence

The licence is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control as permitted by the App Store terms.

12.3 Third-Party Beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

12.4 Support and Maintenance

We're solely responsible for support and maintenance. Contact us at support@lazy-sudoku.online for help.

12.5 Warranty

Apple isn't responsible for addressing any warranty claims. If the App fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund, and Apple has no other warranty obligation.

12.6 Product Claims

We're responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App or your use of it, including:

• Product liability claims
• Claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements
• Claims arising under consumer protection laws

12.7 Intellectual Property Infringement

We're responsible for investigating and defending against any claims that the App infringes third-party intellectual property rights.

13. Google Play Store Terms

If you downloaded the App from Google Play Store, you also agree to Google's Terms of Service at: https://play.google.com/intl/en-GB/about/play-terms/

14. General Provisions

14.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.

14.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.

14.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision doesn't constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

14.4 Assignment

You can't transfer or assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to any affiliate or successor.

14.5 No Partnership

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between you and us.

14.6 Force Majeure

We're not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, wars, pandemics, internet failures).

14.7 Export Compliance

You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws when using the App.

These Terms are provided in English. If we provide a translation, the English version governs in case of any conflict or inconsistency.
