Radial Menu

The radial menu provides quick access to digit actions, focus filters, selection tools, and settings — all without leaving the grid.

Opening the Radial Menu

Method Detail
Long tap on grid Opens menu at tap position
Stylus action Configurable "Open Floating Menu" action (Apple Pencil double-tap, squeeze, etc.)
Multi-finger tap If configured to "Open Floating Menu" in Multi-finger settings

To dismiss the menu, tap anywhere outside the menu items with a finger or stylus.

Navigating the Menu

The radial menu has 3 levels: L1 category → L2 subcategory or action → L3 action (digit selector or other).

You can mix interaction methods freely — for example, drag to a category, tap a subcategory, then barrel-roll through the digit selector:

Menu Categories

Digit

Place, exclude, or highlight a candidate. Opens a digit selector to choose which digit.

Focus

Enter or cycle digit focus, toggle bi-value/tri-value filters, or clear focus. Digit-specific focus actions open a digit selector.

See Digit Focus for details on filter modes.

Select

Select peer cells of the current selection in a given unit or combination — by row, column, box, or intersections. The new selection replaces the current one (i.e. the originally selected cells are excluded). Useful for bulk note editing after identifying a pattern.

Notes Mode

Toggle between value, exclude, highlight, and manual note editing modes.

See Pencil Notes for details on each mode.

Tools

Hint, scan, toggle strong links overlay, and clear links overlay.

Settings

Quick access to relevant settings pages without leaving the game screen.

Tips

  1. Drag for speed — Long-press and drag in one fluid motion to select an action without lifting your finger
  2. Stylus squeeze — Configure Apple Pencil squeeze to open the menu for one-handed radial access
  3. Focus shortcuts — Use the Focus category to toggle bi-value filter, then immediately spot XY-Wing candidates
  4. Select peers, then exclude — Select cells with a pattern, use Select to switch to their peers, then exclude candidates in bulk
